ACHC Accredited

ChildServe has received accreditation in Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). ACHC is a nationally– recognized accreditation leader, which embodies excellence, integrity, and unparalleled service.

American Camp Association

Camp ChildServe received accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA accreditation assures families that camps have committed to a safe, nurturing environment for their children. ACA standards are recognized by courts of law and government regulators as the standards of the camp community.

ACA goes beyond basic requirements for health, cleanliness, and food service into specific areas of programming, including camp staff from director through counselors, emergency management plans, healthcare, and management. Camp ChildServe meets or exceeds the following ACA standards, among others:

  • Staff-to-camper ratios are appropriate for different age groups.
  • Goals for camp activities are developmentally based.
  • Emergency transportation is available at all times.
  • First-aid facilities and trained staff are available when campers are present.
Innovative and Exemplary Repite Service Accreditation

Ames Chamber of Commerce Community Impact Project Award

ChildServe – Ames was awarded the Community Impact Project Award from the Ames Chamber of Commerce. This award recognizes a group or organization that identified a need or executed a project for a civic or service organization, which improved the quality of life in that community. ChildServe‘s project was the Ames expansion which allowed us to expand services to serve more children and families in our community.

ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center

ChildServe Respite has been recognized by the ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center as a 2020 Innovative and Exemplary Respite Service. ARCH recognizes ChildServe’s ability to serve to inspire and inform the respite field and the public, and help to build and promote greater respite opportunities for caregivers across the network and nation.

Innovative and Exemplary Repite Service Accreditation

ChildServe Respite meets or exceeds ARCH standards used to identify Innovative and Exemplary Programs. The program:

  • offers an array of respite options based on the priorities and needs of caregivers and receivers in a person-and-family-centered way.
  • offers outreach to families to ensure their priorities and needs are addressed in a person-and-family-centered way.
  • demonstrates great clarity of purpose in its goals.
  • develops a manual to allow replication of approach.
  • rigorously measures outputs, outcomes, access, and satisfaction, as well as measurement related to training and education.

Book of Lists

Since 2017, ChildServe has been named among the Top 25 Most Influential Nonprofits in the Business Record’s 2024 Book of Lists. In 2024, ChildServe was named the #1 Most Influential Nonprofit in Greater Des Moines.

Placement on the Most Influential Nonprofit list is based on an online survey of Business Record readers. Earning a spot on the list provides multiple reasons to celebrate the teams and individuals fueling ChildServe’s impact on our community.

CARF International

ChildServe currently holds a three-year accreditation from CARF International for the  following services:

We hold specialty accreditations in Pediatrics, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord, Medically Fragile Population and Autism. Our accreditation is a public commitment that we strive to:

  • Involve persons served and their families in their service planning.
  • Respect individual cultural preferences.
  • Be accountable to our funding sources, referral agencies, and the community at large.
  • Address health and safety concerns, such as building safety and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain management practices that are efficient, cost-effective, and based on outcomes and consumer satisfaction.

CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services providers in the areas of Aging Services, Behavioral Health, Child and Youth Services, Employment and Community Services, Medical Rehabilitation, Opioid Treatment Programs, and Vision Rehabilitation Services. CARF assists providers in improving the quality of their services by applying sets of quality standards during a consultative on-site survey.

Corridor Business Journal's Coolest Places to Work Award

Innovative and Exemplary Repite Service Accreditation

Each year, the Corridor Business Journal’s Coolest Places to Work award identifies and honors local organizations that have created the most engaging and rewarding work environments. We’re excited to share that ChildServe was recognized with a “Coolest Places to Work” award in the medium-sized company category. Scores were based on voluntary and anonymous employee surveys about the organization’s workplace culture. 

ChildServe team members use their curiosity, imagination and hope to help children with special healthcare needs and their families live a great life. We’re proud to create a workplace culture that encourages our team to incorporate the spirit of a child into the care we provide. 

Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence

In 2019, ChildServe was selected by the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence (IRPE) program for recognition at the BRONZE level. The IRPE is a Baldrige-criteria based program managed by the Iowa Quality Center.

The Baldrige criteria help organizations identify strengths and opportunities for improvement; provide training for continuous improvement and leadership development; and assure customer focus, efficiency, and workforce engagement. 

The first time we received this recognition in 2010, ChildServe was only the 8th healthcare facility in Iowa to be recognized by the IRPE.

Founded in 2005, the Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation seeks to continuously set standards of the highest quality on behalf of the durable medical equipment industry and business owners. Its interactive, web-based design is specifically aimed at the durable medical equipment industry, providing a targeted approach to accreditation and quality improvement.

Iowa Quality Rating and Improvement System

Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4K®) is Iowa’s new Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) licensed childcare centers and preschools.

The IQ4K® system is the leading indicator of quality childcare:

  • Evidence-based practices that have proven outcomes for kids
  • Continuous quality improvement so childcare programs can continue to improve after they achieve certain quality rating levels
  • Better overall level of program quality across all areas (nutrition, development, partnerships, qualifications, learning, environment)

ChildServe improves the health and well-being of nearly 5,800 children each year through specialized clinical, home, and community-based programs and services. We serve children with developmental delays, disabilities, injuries, and other special healthcare needs.
