Weitz Construction Makes Special Contribution to CCU
Sunday, 15 January 2012 12:00

Weitz Construction is owed thanks for building such a beautiful new home for our Continuing Care Unit (CCU) patients and staff. Weitz’s Steve Davis and Jason Rodgers were in charge of the final phase of the project and were submersed in the construction at ChildServe every day.

Steve and Jason’s contributions to the CCU and our organization did not end with a hammer and nail.

The nurses in the CCU have a tile mosaic of the ChildServe logo that nurses helped kids serviced by the organization create. They wanted to hang the tile on the wall in the newly renovated space. For this, they would need a custom frame. In his own time, Steve designed and built an original wood frame for the mosaic and gave it to the staff as a gift.

In his daily interactions with the staff, Jason learned that the nurses were collecting pop cans to save enough money to purchase a Wii for the kids to play on the new big screen television. Jason, without saying a word to anyone, bought a Wii and gave it as a gift to the nurses and kids.

ChildServe truly is a community of caring and people become believers in our mission and promise every day. With the help of people like Steve, Jason and the dedicated ChildServe staff, the improved CCU will be a vibrant healing environment for the 32 kids who currently call it home, and those who join us well into the future.
