The Physical Therapy team at ChildServe is staffed by dynamic, caring therapists who are specially trained to work with children. Physical therapy is the use of facilitation, therapeutic exercise, treatment strategies, assistive technology, and play/movement activities to treat and improve motor and physical dysfunction. We provide and create an environment of therapeutic and rehabilitative care that is personalized and fun, focusing not only on the needs of the patient, but also the needs of the family.
Physical therapy may include:
Improving balance
Increasing strength
Developing coordination
Improving gross motor skills
Managing spasticity
Improving motor planning
Increasing joint mobility
Wheelchair Positioning / Prescription
Adaptive Equipment Rec / Prescription
Does my child need physical therapy? Your child may be referred for physical therapy services if he or she exhibits any of the following:
Physical disabilities or impairments
More than six months delay in achieving age appropriate developmental milestones
Functional limitations related to balance, walking or gross motor coordination
Changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury or disease
Pain
Problems with basic movement (absent or limited)
Sports related injury
Orthopedic condition or injury
Neurological condition (sustained through either birth or injury)
Processing disorders that effect coordination, motor or functional skills
