ChildServe to Administer H1N1 Vaccines to Children and Staff
Monday, 12 October 2009 10:09

ChildServe is working with the Polk County Health Department to offer the H1N1 vaccine to staff and children who receive services from ChildServe. We expect to receive the vaccines by the end of October, and we will announce dates and times for the clinics as soon as possible. We anticipate that everyone who wants to be vaccinated will be able to do so, but supplies may be limited at first, so we will prioritize groups based on CDC/IDPH recommendations.

When: Thursday, December 10 from 11am-4:30pm
Where: ChildServe Center, Johnston, Respite Center
Who:
1.      All ChildServe staff who work from Polk county locations

2.      All children served by ChildServe from the Polk county locations

3.      Family members of children we serve/ family members of staff who:

  • Are pregnant
  • Live with or care for children under 6 months old
  • Any person 6 mos through 24 years old
  • Any person 25-64 with chronic health conditions

4.      Volunteers who interact with the children in Polk County locations or meet the above priority groups

Families are encouraged to consult with their physicians prior to receiving the vaccination, but they will not be required to obtain physician's orders. The vaccinations will be free of charge. For more information on the vaccination, please read: http://www.idph.state.ia.us/h1n1/common/pdf/vis_inact_h1n1.pdf

Staff and children who receive services from ChildServe Center in Ames should get the vaccine through Story County Public Health. H1N1 vaccination clinics have been scheduled and are posted at http://www.storycounty.com/index.aspx?DN=4997,4883,4882,6,1,Documents .
