The nurses station in the Transitional Care Unit isn't just for nurses - it's the social hub, where children can chat, play games, and have fun with the nurses and their peers. The rooms in the TCU are spacious, with cheerful colors and light cabinetry to make the children feel at home.

Playroom and Teen/Family Room

Younger children love spending time in the TCU playroom, especially with the Child Life Specialists. The entrance to this "kids-only" space features a secret door hidden in a wall! The TCU teen and family room is available to families visiting the TCU for daily activities such as watching a movie or checking e-mail, as well as family gatherings or small parties. Teens love hanging out in this space during down time because they get to take advantage of all the fun technology! The room holds a keyboard, Xbox 360, PlayStation, Nintendo Wii, big screen TVs, and an array of video games.

This therapy treatment room is just one of many highly adaptable treatment rooms that therapists can modify to suit the equipment and space needs of the child. The inpatient therapy gym has all the space and large specialized equipment a child needs to work on rehabilitation.

The Sensory Solarium is a bright and airy room that changes constantly as our child life specialists and recreational therapists use monthly themes for sensory-stimulating activities. The aquatic facilities at ChildServe offer a safe, encouraging environment to foster each child’s participation in functional activities. The therapeutic pool enables many children to move and play in ways that are otherwise challenging.
