The Annual Volunteer Appreciation Party was held on October 20th, 2009 at the ChildServe Center in Johnston and a good time was had by all who attended. The theme of the evening was “Volunteers-making a difference one person at a time.”
Volunteers and their guests arrived and were happy to receive a ChildServe tote bag and enjoyed looking at the photos of volunteers around the room. They tried the delicious bite sized treats and had fun drizzling them with chocolate in our chocolate fountain.
Lloyd Vander Kwaak, President/CEO of ChildServe opened the evening by welcoming the volunteers and their guests and letting them know how much their hard work is appreciated. Marie Kayser, Director of Care Management, which includes Volunteer Services, spoke to the volunteers and let them know how their efforts affect ChildServe and the children we serve throughout the year.
A video was shown featuring the staff of many of the services at ChildServe thanking the volunteers for choosing ChildServe when giving of their time, talent, hard work and donations. All these things, along with the volunteers' caring and love, help our children live a great life! A few of the volunteers were also included in the video describing what volunteering at ChildServe has meant to them. The video was very touching and definitely showed that volunteering has a positive impact on the volunteers, ChildServe, and the children we serve!
Mary Hannam-Johnson, Program Support and Volunteer Supervisor and Kaylene Steele, Volunteer Coordinator recognized and thanked each volunteer. Mary and Kaylene let them know that ChildServe would not be able to provide all the extra love and care given to the kids without the help of the volunteers. They also recognized and thanked the ChildServe Volunteer Liaisons for their hard work supporting the volunteers in their program or service on an on-going basis.
ChildServe and Volunteer Services appreciates the 9,800+ hours given by the 1331 volunteers in this past year and Volunteer Services continues to look forward to working with each person who takes time out of their schedule to volunteer at ChildServe!
