The most rewarding part of my job is working with families that are considering residential placement, and supporting them as they make the difficult decision to let someone else care for their child. I enjoy watching children and parents adjust and change after their child comes to live at ChildServe. It is exciting to see how parents and staff work together on behalf of a child. I have always been given the message at ChildServe that children and families are first, and I very much believe in that philosophy.
ChildServe Habilitation Center (CHC)
Johnston, Iowa.
Offers 24-hour a day residential care, including skilled nursing care (SNF) and intermediate care for children with mental retardation (ICF/MR).
Skilled nursing care is offered for children who are medically fragile and require specialized nursing care and therapy services. ICF/MR is provided for children who require nursing care, behavior support, and therapy services. Active treatment programs focus on enabling children achieve growth and developmental milestones.

ChildServe Center Johnston

Offers community services to children living at home with their families. Children visit the center to receive therapy (speech language, physical, occupational), audiology, adaptive equipment and respite services. ChildServe's Administrative offices and ChildServe Foundation are also located in this building. In addition, other services including homecare, supported community living, and case management are coordinated out of the ChildServe Center, although they are actually provided in the community or in children's homes.

Offers integrated childcare for children of all abilities, as well as community services to children living at home with their families.
In the integrated childcare center, children with special health care needs and their non-disabled peers learn side by side in a classroom that teaches individual skill development, compassion and understanding. Children also visit the ChildServe Center to receive respite services. In addition, other services including therapy, homecare, supported community living, and care coordination are coordinated out of the ChildServe Center, although they are provided in the community or in children's homes.

Located throughout the Des Moines metro area.
Offers 24-hour a day residential care, including Intermediate Care for Children with Mental Retardation(ICF/MR) and Supported Community Living/Residential Care (SCL/R). ChildServe currently has 8 group homes serving 36 children in the community. ICF/MR is provided for children who require nursing care, behavior support, and therapy services. Active treatment programs focus on enabling children achieve growth and developmental milestones. SCL/R is provided for children who need daily care and support, daily living skill development, behavior support, and therapy services.
