Stewardship Principles
As stewards of the organization’s resources, ChildServe shall:
- Spend an adequate amount on administrative expenses to ensure effective accounting systems, internal controls, competent staff, and other expenditures critical to professional management;
- Spend an appropriate percentage of its annual budget (not less than 65 percent of its total expenses) on programs in pursuance of its mission;
- Compensate staff, and any others who may receive compensation, reasonably and appropriately;
- Have reasonable fundraising costs, recognizing the variety of factors that affect fundraising costs;
- Not accumulate operating funds excessively;
- Prudently draw from foundation funds consistent with donor intent and to support the public purpose of the organization;
- Ensure that all billing and spending practices and policies are fair, reasonable and appropriate to fulfill the mission of the organization; and,
- Financial reports of the organization will be factually accurate and complete in all material respects.
