7th Annual Bubble Ball Gala: Art Alive!

Creativity and generosity bubbled over at Bubble Ball 2017. For this year’s Art Alive! theme, over 70 local designers were challenged to create wearable runway pieces or stationary designs inspired by their favorite artist, piece of artwork, or art genre. Over 800 guests enjoyed the unique bubble wrap designs, live music from the Brazilian 2wins, delicious food, and many surprises throughout a spectacular runway show.

Upon entering into the Grand Ballroom at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, attendees were greeted with 3-D stationary bubble wrap designs including the melting clocks in Dali’s “Persistence of Memory,” a face-in-hole design of Grant Wood’s “American Gothic,” and a massive patch of poppies inspired by Van Gogh’s “Field of Poppies” blooming off the canvas.

The runway show, directed by Sarah Dornink, allowed attendees to view the artwork that inspired each designer while watching the finished product make its debut on stage. Inspirations ranged from a bust of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti to “Washington Crossing the Delaware” by Leutze, and so much more.

Thanks to the generosity of the guests, the 7th annual Bubble Ball event brought the total amount of money raised by Bubble Ball to over $1,000,000 since the inaugural event in 2011.

“The dollars raised through this event have enriched children’s lives and enabled the purchase of those special items that would have been impossible otherwise!” said Director of Development and Community Relations, Cheri Burns. “We’re so grateful for the way Bubble Ball has heightened people’s awareness of ChildServe; those who may have been unaware have a better understanding and may choose to provide future support.”

The Art Alive! theme popped off the runway in the form of dancers and acrobats, while more than 100 models and performers walked the exquisite designs. Bubble Ball 2017 was made possible by a dedicated group of 39 volunteer committee members along with many volunteer designers and special guests.

Save the date for next year’s can’t-miss event on Saturday, April 7, 2018.
