Bubble Ball 2024 Raises $923,725
ChildServe‘s 14th Annual Bubble Ball Raises Funds for Children with Special Healthcare Needs
ChildServe is pleased to announce the organization raised $923,725 at its 14th annual Bubble Ball event on Saturday, April 20, at the Iowa Events Center, Hy-Vee Hall. The event, presented by Dotdash Meredith, hosted over 1,400 attendees. This year’s runway show, themed Iconic Eras, took guests on a fashion journey through time using unique, bubble wrap designs inspired by ancient Greece, vintage flapper outfits, 90s hip hop and everything in between.
Proceeds from the evening impact each of ChildServe’s locations and services by supporting the nonprofit’s annual fund, but the focus of the evening was the organization’s Homes program.
“ChildServe’s 16 group homes in central Iowa serve children and young adults, age 5 to 30, who require round-the-clock supervision or medical care,” said Teri Wahlig, M.D., ChildServe CEO. “In addition to individualized care plans, community involvement and skill development, ChildServe homes provide a place where nearly 80 children and young adults not only call home, but a place where they truly belong.”

Funds from the event will be utilized for renovation projects in the ChildServe Homes. Remodeling plans include: updates to the kitchen, where individuals learn to cook; the living room, where they engage with one another and play games; and the bathroom, where they learn important self-care skills. ChildServe homes require maintenance that goes above and beyond typical home ownership – they’re places that require well-designed spaces where children who use wheelchairs, oxygen, ramps or other specialized equipment feel safe and can fully access their environment.
