We partner with families to help children with special healthcare needs live a great life.
ChildServe will be uniquely positioned in Iowa to improve the health and wellbeing of children with special healthcare needs.
ChildServe incorporates our core values of care, integrity, trust, partnerships, and excellence in our relationships with children, families, staff members, and the community.
We Know Kids
Our entire organization is built around kids! We know that children and teens have needs that are different from those of adults with similar conditions. ChildServe’s programs and clinics provide healthcare services designed for the developmental needs of children and young adults. Every member of our staff has specialized training to understand and support a child’s growth and development. Our facilities and equipment are designed to make kids feel comfortable, safe, and inspired.
Continuum of Care
Our care team members, like our pediatric specialists, medical social workers, and case managers, provide support for children and families throughout their journey at ChildServe. Children in our outpatient therapy programs or clinics may need to transition from one of our services to another, while others in inpatient care transition back to home and school after injuries or illnesses, or transition to a new care facility as they age out of residential services. We provide exceptional care coordination to families across the services they receive.
Multi-disciplinary Team Approach
Our pediatric specialists work together to put children first. From pediatric physicians to Rehab Nurses and therapists, a multi-disciplinary team of experts create personalized care plans and growth benchmarks that meet the unique needs of each child we serve. By supporting children with a team approach, we ensure that each child or young adult receives the best care possible.
We Care about Families
At ChildServe, we know that to successfully partner with children, we must partner with their families. We help families understand their child’s condition and all aspects of the care plan. We want parents to be as involved in their child’s care as possible. To help ease families’ full lives, our medical social workers and access specialists provide care coordination for the transition into or out of ChildServe’s programs and any other community resources that may be needed.
Executives & Governance
ChildServe leaders identify key strategies and initiatives that enable ChildServe to extend our mission to more children and families and our improve operating performance. These leaders receive guidance and supervision from ChildServe‘s Board of Trustees and Board of Directors.
Each year, ChildServe shares recent activities, achievements, and financial statements with the community through annual reports. We compile necessary information and feature stories of children in our care, but the work we do each day far exceeds the capacity of these reports to tell our story.
This past year, ChildServe supported nearly 4,500 children and their families in central and eastern Iowa. We thank these families for their trust and for giving us the opportunity to live our mission statement each day – “We partner with families to help children with special healthcare needs live a great life!”
ChildServe regularly gathers patient satisfaction survey results, quality feedback, and census data to monitor our services and continuously work toward our long-term and short-term goals.
Since our beginning in 1928, ChildServe’s location and name have changed, but our commitment to understanding and filling the needs of children and young adults with special healthcare needs remains the same. Once caring for children recovering from childhood illnesses such as polio and tuberculosis, ChildServe has become the most comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation center of its kind in the Midwest.
