DAISY Award Winner
ChildServe nurses make an amazing difference in the lives of children, young adults, and families across Iowa. Individually, nurses can transform the lives of those they help support. For the Dearinger family, ChildServe nurse Pat Rice-Larimer has done just that.
Pat began providing specialized respite care to Luke when he was just two years old. Now, 16 years later, Pat is still combining professional nursing services with empathy to support the Dearingers throughout life’s challenges.
“Luke’s mom died in 2008, and Pat helped us through some very difficult times,” said Luke’s dad, Scott Dearinger. “Now that I’m a single dad, Pat even helps me shop for proper-fitting clothes and other aspects one would expect a single father to need help with. I cannot emphasize enough the emotional stability and excellent care provided by Pat.”
Pat’s consistent presence has made an amazing impact in the lives of Luke and Scott. So much so, that Scott nominated Pat for the DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award is an ongoing recognition program created to express gratitude to nurses across the globe for their life-improving work that goes beyond expert clinical care. Each year, ChildServe invites staff members, along with children and families we serve, to nominate nurses who live out our mission of partnering with families to help children with special healthcare needs live a great life. Our nominees embody ChildServe‘s core values of care, integrity, partnership, trust, and excellence.
Join ChildServe in congratulating our DAISY Award winner Pat Rice-Larimer and all our nominees. We thank all our nurses who provide extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care.
