Licensed mental health professionals at ChildServe support kids and families with behavioral health concerns in building stronger social skills and greater emotional understanding through play, talk, and reflective interactions.

For ChildServe Mental Health Team Lead, Ann Spaine, this means coming to work every day and seeing individuals become more confident, become ready for the next steps in life, and realize that their greatest potential has no limits.

Ann has witnessed siblings of kids with special healthcare needs make lasting connections and feel understood during Sibshops. During parent support groups, Ann has provided a welcoming space where families can share their highs and lows and never feel alone. Ann has helped individuals in wheelchairs finally see themselves as more than a disability.

“My favorite part is that moment when a child identifies their diagnosis as not something ‘wrong with them,’ but rather ‘right with them.’ I feel so lucky to experience these moments so regularly on the job!”

From Supported Community Living Service Supervisor to Case Manager and now Team Lead of ChildServe’s mental health program, Ann has walked with many families through unique journeys.

“ChildServe is an amazing environment to work in as a mental health therapist not only because of the team environment and collaboration; but also because ideas, creativity and growth are welcomed and implemented,” says Ann. “I love the constant learning and training opportunities. I feel honored to work beside and with a team that I learn something new from every day.”
