Planned Giving Opportunities

Realized planned gifts are generally designated to the ChildServe Endowment, a permanent endowment fund established in 1989. Annual distributions support the care and services offered by ChildServe and protect against unexpected reimbursement gaps and difficult economic conditions, and uphold its programs and services.

Bequest

Bequests are the most common form of planned gift provided to the ChildServe Foundation. With the aid of your attorney, you may include bequest language in your last will and testament that directs a specific asset, total dollar amount, or percentage of your residual estate to be given to ChildServe. Your bequest may also include instructions for the use of your gift, such as a specific area or program of benefit. Sample bequest language is available to assist you in this process.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a contractual agreement between the donor and the organization in which the donor gives assets in exchange for lifetime income payments. The rate of income is determined by the age of the beneficiary and other factors and is based upon recommendations from the American Council on Gift Annuities. There are tax advantages at the time the gift is made, as well as income payments throughout the life of the contract. The annuity residual is used by the Foundation for the donor’s intended purpose.

Life Insurance

Donors may contribute a life insurance policy or name ChildServe as the policy’s beneficiary. Policies that are paid-in-full, or partially paid, may be transferred to the Foundation as a gift, making the organization owner and beneficiary. The donor is responsible to continue premium payments for partially paid-up policies.

Charitable Lead Trust

The charitable lead trust is a gift arrangement in which the donor transfers assets to a trust that pays ChildServe set payments for a specified period of time. When the term is completed, the remaining trust assets are returned to the donor, the donor’s family, or other designated beneficiaries.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust

In addition to charitable gift annuities, ChildServe offers charitable remainder trust arrangements which provide opportunities for donors to make a gift while maintaining a secure income.
