Stephanie’s Story

When the pandemic hit in 2020, many ChildServe community services were put on pause. ChildServe Nursing Manager Stephanie Martindale played a key role in ensuring the safety of kids and team members as we began to open up services again.

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award is an international recognition program that celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. Stephanie was nominated by three of her peers, who wrote:

“Stephanie has gone above and beyond for families and multiple teams at ChildServe. I often think of this quote when I think of Stephanie, “If you are going to help, help with a happy heart.” Stephanie has provided support, help, guidance, and leadership and has done this with a happy heart. She has been part of many challenging situations and has handled each with professional grace, partnership, joy, and persistence. Her dedication to ChildServe and the families we serve is commendable. I feel so fortunate to have Stephanie as part of the ChildServe team!”

“Stephanie has worked hard this past year to ensure ChildServe could continue providing community-based services to children while reducing the risk of COVID and maintaining everyone’s safety. She helped create a plan for our respite and day habilitation services to get back up and running, after several months without them. She has an approachable demeanor and handles her responsibilities across several services with differing requirements and practices. We are lucky to have Stephanie on our team!”
“The pandemic has raised extra complexities for ChildServe’s community service programs. With over 250 children in these services onsite daily, many new processes and countless hours spent talking with families and staff were necessary to ensure everyone was on the same page. Stephanie has provided the necessary support for all locations to grow. She has also been instrumental in getting our respite groups back up and running, after a significant closing of all groups due to COVID. Stephanie always has a smile on her face and always makes the time to support all of her teams. She is amazing and we couldn’t have made it through this past year without her and her clinical expertise.”
Families and team members are invited to nominate a nurse who has left a lasting impact on them. To learn more about the DAISY Award or complete a nomination form visit https://bit.ly/DaisyAwardNominate.
