Shaping the Future
Capital campaigns have built facilities for many needed services and programs at ChildServe. The dollars raised by campaigns over the last 13 years have funded many facilities that have shaped the future of ChildServe by increasing capacity. Examples include the construction of the ChildServe Center in Johnston where multiple services inconveniently located throughout the greater Des Moines area could be accessed at one location; the Transitional Unit, a unit providing short term intensive nursing care and rehabilitation services for children transitioning from an acute hospitalization to home; and extensive renovation to the Continuing Care Unit, the only skilled nursing facility for pediatric care in Iowa.
As evidenced by these examples, capital campaigns at ChildServe have allowed the organization to grow by creating capacity and important facilities that would be unavailable otherwise—they have shaped the future of ChildServe.
